From our beloved Kenya we made our new home in France. We would love to share with you what we fell in love with at this special place…
About us
The decision to leave Kenya and move to Europe in 2010 was a major life-changing event. A journey that included a handful of years in Sweden, Denmark, and very briefly, the UK. There were many challenges along the way, but finding this unique place meant the eagle could finally land.
The fairytale La Cité de Carcassonne was love at first sight, and we were instantly hooked by the rustic beauty of the surrounding countryside. The deeply verdant Montagnes Noir with underground caves, rivers, valleys and wildlife. And of course the nearby Mediterrannean sea. This is also a wonderful wine producing region and, as with most things French, abundant seasonal fresh food.
We bought our bijoux home ‘Les Citronniers’ and as serendipity had played a part in the purchasing of another home 2 doors up with an adjoining garden, the idea of creating one of these homes into a Gite was born.
We called the former Maison de Maitre, ‘L’Orangerie’ and were lucky to have purchased this prior to the pandemic, as this property needed renovation we had something to keep us occupied.
The river fronted and walled gardens of both homes are joined in a horse-shoe shape creating the perfect setting for gathering our growing family and friends on special occasions, and allowing us to share “Les Citronniers” as a Gite.
A lockable privacy gate between the two homes means that “Les Citronniers” can be enjoyed as a private holiday home welcoming visitors to this fascinating region. Here guests are offered a taste of the Mediterranean lifestyle with quality produce, peace and quiet.
We are sure you will love this place as much as we do.
